The ultimate classic Negroni cocktail recipe

The ultimate classic Negroni cocktail is one to impress your guests with.

To make the perfect gin Negroni you will need the best produce you can find, as it is so simple! Using only three ingredients, the Italian cocktail is one of the best aperitifs you can have, not only because it contains Vermouth and gin, but because it is very strong. The Negroni drink is pure alcohol, there’s no syrups or mixers here, so a good meal after one or two negronis is recommended.

The combination of the Negroni ingredients creates a sour but sweet taste. Invented in Florence Italy, a classic Italian Negroni recipe uses equal parts London dry gin, sweet Vermouth and Campari. Simply add ice and stir, always stir the ingredients together, never shake and complete the drink with a slice of orange garnish. Don’t be tempted to rub orange peel around the glass, as this will cause a numbing sensation when you drink ruining the experience of the drink!

To make the best Negroni, a daring gin is needed, without, the gin will be lost amongst the bold flavours of sweet vermouth and Campari. Even though the Negroni only uses three ingredients, using different gins, vermouth and bitters can drastically change the flavour of the cocktail. An important thing to note is Vermouth is a wine and needs to be kept in the refrigerator and will last for three months, don’t be tempted to use that bottle of Vermouth you’ve had for years!
